Volunteer

The American Presidential Experience is coming to Charlotte August 31 through September 8 for the Democratic National Convention and we need volunteers to help with this non-partisan exhibit! A 30,000 square foot, air conditioned tent will house the largest collection of presidential exhibits ever to travel in America, including the only replica of Ronald Reagan’s Air Force One, a full size Oval Office, interactive educational exhibits, over a dozen First Ladies gowns highlighting fashions from Martha Washington to Jackie Kennedy along with book signings on the Presidential Stage from the top twenty historical and presidential scholars.

Location
The exhibit will be set up in a temporary tent at 407 West Third Street, at the corner of South Mint and Third Streets in Uptown Charlotte.

Roles
• Ticketing – Process ticket purchases at the box office and verify pre-sale tickets purchased on-line
• Media assistant – Liaison with media and work with American Presidential Experience management to accommodate all media requests
• Greeter – Greet incoming attendees and answers questions regarding tickets, exhibition area, bathrooms, food, etc.
• Docent – Specially trained volunteers who will share information with attendees about Oval Office History, Air Force One and the Presidential Panels

Shift times
Volunteers are needed each day beginning on Friday, August 31 through Saturday, September 8 for the following shift times:
9am – 1pm
1pm – 5pm
5pm – 9pm
Each volunteer may take one 15 minute break during their shift and snacks will be provided.

Attire
Each volunteer should wear khaki pants and closed-toed comfortable shoes and we will provide an American Presidential Experience tee shirt. Please note that shorts and flip flops are not permitted.

Parking
Free parking is available on site and each volunteer will receive more specific information about accessibility, any security restrictions, etc. closer to the event.

Training
A mandatory training session will be held in late August, with different day and time options to accommodate various schedules. The session will last approximately 90 minutes and you will receive sign up information and more details around the third week of August.
